Director Of Instructional Technology 

 

Yamilette Williams serves as the Director of Instructional Technology. She brings an extensive background in teaching, professional development, technology administration and program management. She is always seeking out creative and effective digital resources and strategies the teacher and student population can benefit from. To stay on the pulse of the ever changing technology, she reads trade journals, subscribes to RSS feeds, and attends national conferences. Ms. Williams is a member of the State Oklahoma Technology Association. She makes it a practice to avail herself to school and district administrators to support their efforts of meeting the District mission. Her dream mission statement for the District's is "We will provide quality learning experiences integrating technology for every student, every day, without exception."

Denise has been in the Instructional Tech Support position for 8 years.  Prior to that, she taught 4 years at the high school level and 12 years at the post-secondary level.  Denise holds a Master’s Degree in Business Ed from Northwestern State University in Louisiana.

Samantha started with TPS in October '08 and is now starting her second year as in Instructional Technology Specialist. Prior to her current position, She was an Educational Computing Strategist for 4 years, and a 2nd grade teacher for 3 years in Las Vegas. Samantha has a Master's Degree in Technology Integration in Education from UNLV.

Graduate of Langston University with a BA in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting.  Started with Tulsa Public Schools in 2002 as Help Desk Lead Rep.  After several years at the Help Desk transferred over to Instructional Technology department in 2004.

Naomi Huynh graduated from OU with a degree in Management Information Systems.  She has been an Application Support Analyst at Tulsa Public Schools for over 5 years and is still enjoying it

Karen Dotson is a National Board Certified Teacher.  She has taught at Skelly Elementary for the past 11 years.  She teaches GT and is the site tech.

K graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS degree in both Secondary Education and in Geography.  She received her Master’s from the University of Oklahoma in Human Relations: Counseling.
She  teaches  7th grade Geography and is the Social Studies Department Chair at Clinton Middle School where she has taught for the past 12 years.  She utilizes a Promethean Board in her classroom and loves to use technology to engage her students in the world around them.
K also teaches Geography at Tulsa Community College  and has been an adjunct faculty member for fourteen years.  She has also worked in Tulsa’s Sister City of Zelenograd, Russia.

Beth has been teaching for 4 years. She received her B.S. in Social Science Education from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri.  She is currently teaching 8th Grade American History at Whitney Middle School, where she is also the Webmaster and the Site Technology Coordinator. She is pursuing her Master’s Degree from Oklahoma State University and is excited to use technology in her classroom and to teach others how to as well!

Bea Hoxie is a National Board Certified Teacher who has been enjoying the classroom for 17 years.  She has taught all levels of English, coached athletics and academics, and taught in Oklahoma and North Carolina. She currently teaches English at Booker T. Washington High School.  Bea has been an advocate of technology in the classroom for several years and is a Promethean Board trainer for TPS.

Mrs. Leach is the Library Media Specialist at Nimitz Middle School. She loves teaching students about using technology and doing research. She tells students that in today’s world, they do not have to worry about getting enough information, but about how to decide if they are getting accurate, timely information. She makes it her job to help students do that in conjunction with their content teachers.
Mrs. Leach became the LMS at Nimitz four years ago. She has a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma. Before that she taught special education students in the regular classroom. She loves to travel and was selected last year as a Fund for Teachers’ Fellow. She traveled to Alaska and has an ongoing blog sharing information with her students.

Rana teaches Business & Information Technology at Edison High School.  She has been in the teaching profession for 12 years.  Rana currently teaches Fundamentals of Web Design and Video Production (Digital Media).  She received her Bachelors of Science degree from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK where her major was Business Education.  Teaching is what Rana was born to do and she tries to reach as many people (adults and students) as possible.

  Susan "Suzy" Oliver, MS, AbD is a math instructor, but she spent 31 years as a computer programmer and tutor.  She earned an MS in Math and an MS and ABD in Geophysics as well as Associates in Spanish and Latin.  She loves tennis and playing old-time fiddling music. She is married and has two sons—Will and Levi

 

Chiyaki Thurston is a Middle School Reading teacher and Department Chair for Lewis and Clark Middle School since August 2005. She is a certified English Language Learner (ELL) teacher/testing coordinator and site technology coordinator specializing in professional development of integrating technology in the classroom. She has been an educator, consultant, presenter and administrator in the field of education for over 14 years.

  Charles Wigington has been with TPS for 11 years, teaching Special Ed and music while serving as site tech at Remington Elementary.  He currently is the Technology Curriculum Facilitator for five Westside elementary schools, working with teachers to integrate technology into the curriculum.  He hosts his own website, Adventures in Learning, a portal supplying tech links to match specific PASS objectives, created specifically for TPS teachers.

 

Robert Yadon earned a BA in Education from Northeastern State University. He has taught for TPS for 19 years. Robert currently teaches 7th grade geography at Nimitz MS. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he is in charge of maintaining the school’s computers, website, and assisting teachers with integrating technology into their classrooms. Robert is very excited about helping teachers add some pizzazz to their websites with his expertise in producing audio and video podcasts.
